Reputedly the biggest Ranch Rodeo of the year in this region. A Ranch Rodeo differs from a classic rodeo in that it has teams from local ranches who compete in team events -saddle bronc riding, cattle 'cutting' (which has nothing to do with knives or blood, thankfully), and an event
where the team rope a cow and milk it....
Alongside the Rodeo are other Cowboy traditions. There was a huge selection of Chuckwaggons and cooks who would typically cook out on the range in the old days... probably some still do.
The 'blue heeler' is the traditional 'cow dog', so named for the blue hue of its coat and the fact it chases the heels of the cattle to round 'em up. This one had the bluest eyes you can imagine, which is unusual since they typically have one blue eye, one brown (think David Bow-wow-wow-ie).
Team 'Cutting' event.
'Coors Cowboys' organise the event and are responsible for fundraising and stewarding.
